He called on other countries that have not signed the “Early Harvest Memorandum of Understanding” at this meeting to complete their domestic procedures as soon as possible and sign it, promoting its implementation as soon as possible. He stressed that the vigorous development of international cooperation under the “One Belt, One Road” initiative has brought new opportunities for the further development of the GMS economy and society. He hoped that countries would seize the precious opportunities to promote the implementation of specific measures on cross-border transportation and promote the realization of the GMS. Ao Gao strongly agreed with Liu Xiaoming’s proposal to accelerate the signing and implementation of the “early harvest” memorandum of understanding. He believes that this will increase the attractiveness of the region to private investors and promote the convenience of cross-border transport. He called on GMS countries to accelerate the reform of relevant laws, regulations and management systems to enable greater free movement of goods and people.

During the meeting, the participating countries reached a new roadmap and work plan to accelerate the signing and implementation of the “early harvest memorandum of understanding” and to work on revising the Agreement on Cross-Border Transport of Goods and People within the framework of the meeting. The Greater Mekong Subregion, focusing on In-depth discussions on the opening of new GMS cross-border land transport routes and entry and exit points were conducted. Mr. Liu Xiaoming also discussed with leaders of the transport departments of Thailand, Vietnam, Myanmar… on issues of mutual concern such as strengthening bilateral international road transport cooperation.
